Oil workshop

It was a busy weekend here at my studio with an enthusiastic group joining together to do some oil painting for a couple of days. We started off with a demonstration of some colour mixing and simplifed it to a limited palette of three primaries which were French Ultramarine, Alizarin and Cad. Yellow Pale plus Titanium White. There is an endless array of colours to be made from these three including soft and vibrant greens, grays and earth colours. We then did a couple of small paintings solely using these colours which really helps cement the harmonious combination and variation possible with this mix. It was a great weekend all round and so wonderful to enjoy the enthusiasm shared by everyone.
