"Drawn to the Wild"

Opening night finally came after a year of preparation for my solo exhibition "Drawn to the Wild" at the Benalla Art Gallery and what a wonderful evening it was! Not only did I have my beautiful daughter there, she is such a strong and loving support but my two sisters flew in from interstate to be with me as well. Many of my friends and supporters came, some travelling long distances on a very hot day, to them all, I feel immense gratitude. I had not seen the exhibition fully hung until that night and I was overwhelmed by the amazing layout chosen by the gallery director, it looked wonderful and flowed so well. Along with my exhibition, the other two visiting exhibitions were opened and during the speeches, I was called out to the front whilst the director spoke about my work. Although it was highly unnerving to stand there and look out to a sea of 250 or more faces, I also felt so honoured and proud to be one of so many art aficionados. This has been such a highlight in my art career to present 32 drawings to the public in such a wonderful space.
